Bird Watching

Nothing like bird watching from the convenience of the back deck.
A hummingbird sunning herself.
Watch out. Might be a tasty snack if not careful.
Made it to the feeder. Looking left and right to make sure the other couple isn’t coming in for a dive bombing run.
Tongue out, ready to go in.
Ahh, refreshing nectar.
Jaime was on the deck and was afraid the hummingbird might become a snack.
I also stalked a cardinal in the backyard. Serious stinkeye. ‘You want some a dis? I didn’t think so’!
Tracked her back to her nest. As Flo would say in the old sitcom ‘Alice’, ‘Kiss my Grits’.
In the front yard was a whole different scenario. ‘Hi Mister, I’m just learning to fly. Sorry I pooped all over your sidewalk’.
After hearing me talking about how small and cute the hummingbirds are, Stanley decides to show how small and cute he can be, by curling up in Parker’s little bed.

  1. Stanley! Is there anywhere you can't sleep? Hee hee!

You got some amazing bird shots! I'm envious. We don't have quite the right trees to be able to get many shots of them here. Not to mention that it's too blasted hot to even think about going outside to hunt for anything right now.

  2. I love hummingbirds! And the cardinal is so beautiful. I used to put out feeders for them, but kept attracting too many hornets to the deck, for Miss Veil's liking.

  3. I just found out that I missed the migration of hummingbirds through Houston. I thought for sure there would be some here through the summer.

Loved your photos. Bird watching is so interesting.

  7. You have such beautiful birds to photograph. We have sparrows, starlings, blackbirds, waxeyes and thrushes. Lovely to have them around but not terribly exciting to take photos of:)

It's amazing how small a ball a Greyhound can curl up into. Beryl curls up into a similar sized ball on my bed and there still doesn't seem to be enough room for me ... cos she's right in the middle of both pillows!

  8. the hummingbirds are amazing. we've been hearing the resident cooper's hawks one street over from our house a lot in the past few weeks. they and the crows are always harassing each other -- usually it's the crows that win.

  15. Thanks for the link to your posting about corns. Do you soften it up before you remove it? I am finding different methods and not sure what is best. What type of tool do you use? Thanks
